the debs might be dodgy - I have had complaints elsewhere too

hmm search results will probably only appear after indexing typically...

I dont have a FUSE home folder so Im not sure if I can rule that out or 
not. Can you send me log off list please (you might want to reindex with 
--debug to get a better log file)
