thanks.
Solaris has a samilar API, File events notification
It is just like inofy or fam,
I will check its status to see if I can use it in tracker currently.
BTW: Is there any roadmap for tracker?
I notice that you are not guarentee its API and database schema
stability before 1.0.
Is there any schedule to integrate it into gnome stack?

when I configure tracker trunk code on solaris,
it tells me that
file monitor backend to be used: polling only
inotify header location: none
ioprio support: no
It detects some kernel features, such as inotify
which is to monito file system change,
It will also detect FAM/GAMIN as well (make sure you have the headers
for these installed so it can detect them)
but I want to know that solaris doesnot support inotify,
how it will impact tracker's features on solaris?
real time updates and detection of file moves will be affected. Does
solaris provide any kernel notification of file changes?
If so we would accept patches for it
btw: I have no linux box at hand, I want to know
when configure tracker on linux, what are the values for
file monitor backend to be used?
1) Inotify
2) GAMIN
3) FAM
4) POLLING (also used if any of the above fail like EG on NFS)
