So, here is the final (for now) deskbar 2.19.90 handler.

As mentioned in IRC, the new modules will be stored in
~/.gnome2/deskbar-applet/modules and
$prefix/lib/deskbar-handler/modules - I sent the updated handler with
it's old name 'tracker-handler-2.py' to be consistent with the rest of
the ML traffic ;)
