Hi,

I just installed tracker from svn to try to get it to index my emails
contained in local maildir folders. These folders are populated from
gmail via fetchmail - procmail to the appropriate place. I do this to
archive mail, I never actually use Evolution.

Beagle wasn't finding recent emails, so I launched Evolution and did a
send/receive, and it seemed to "read" the mails that were new since
the last time I used it. Beagle seems slow to index these, btw, so far
it's only up to early March.

Anyway, according to the tracker.log, tracker is only indexing a
remote imap account. It reports 51 messages, which I believe is
accurate for that account, and a search for terms in those mails
brings up hits. However, tracker doesn't seem to index my local
maildir mails, either as messages or plain text files, even though it
reports it's watching those directories.

For Imap to work in real time you need to right click on the imap folder
in evo and select properties and check "copy folder content locally for
offline operation"

(I believe this is the same for Beagle as neither can index new emails
unless the email message is saved locally)

Maildir or MH is not supported at this time. It shouldn't be difficult
to add fully support since there is already code but it just needs to be
done...

yeah I need a volunteer for that - I dont have an MH or MailDir account
so I cant really test/develop it

Anyway glad to see you are back online Laurent :)

jamie.
