I have more thoughts on the bottom panel (currently a text widget)
This is a selection sensitive panel showing stuff for the selected
search result in the icon/list view
This should show the following:
1) basic metadata and thumbnail (file path, mime type, file size, last
modified). (This stuff would also show in the listview of the search
results btw).
2) small preview of text (only a few lines) with search term highlighted
(or blank if not applicable). For music/vidoe/image files we can show
their specific metadata here instead.
3) All tags as a line of hyperlinks (see libsexy for widget) that when
clicked would launch a tag browser window that shows all other files
with that tag. Right Clicking on a tag brings up a menu to delete the
tag. Need an New Tag link too that when clicked turns into an entry box.
The tag browser should look like nautilus with a sidepanel (the panel
will show all tags).
4) File.Rank metadata - can show this as a set of stars a la Vista. Need
ablility to edit this
5) A space to add a description + A Button to bring up a general
metadata get/set window.
of course the trick here is to manage all this in what is a relatively
small space so feel free to come up with mockups or glade
implementations of this. I quite like Vista's implementation with a
green panel at the bottom - see:
