Right but a tab that shows "all files" does this too. I dislike having 
everything jumbled up but using tabs gives us both options

The alternative to tabs would be to have a treeview on the side that 
lists the available services but im not sure thats elegant

only for the current tab as we want to save state in each tab

thumbnail, preview text contents with search terms highlighted, the 
keywords and some basic metadata. There will also be buttons for adding 
metadata and keywords. I know that sounds a lot but I will need to sort 
something out.

selectable metadata that constructs an rdf query (much like in nuatilus 
search or the gnome search tool but more advanced)
