I have a small Project called Barracuda, which is probably the closest thing right now. It is a Python based GTK front end to Tracker.

There's not much right now but it is functional. It works only with Tracker 0.3 and 0.4 I think... I have a lot of changes in store and a lot of loose ideas of some serious bling, which I will realize when the next Tracker release hits the block.

Yeah. I have mixed fealings about Barracuda. I think Python is a great way to get a lot of cool functionality within a easily managed codebase (and that is exactly the aim of Barracuda). There is a non negligible memory overhead though and to really do Tracker justice a C front end is needed (atm there are very slim chances of me having resources to contribute there though).
