Hi,

I saw that 0.5.0 was released and gave it a go on my laptop (T23).

Tracker-search-tool:

+ looks clean and simple

The window needs to be a bit wider because the search field is too narrow.

okay will fix

I gave it a test run by searching for "Files".

It returned three results. The next button should have been grayed out
because there were no more results for that query.

yes thanks will fix this.

The search returned a pdf document but I think I saw that pdf was not
supported when I ran configure?

pdf text extraction uses pdftotxt so if you have that installed it will use it. Only the pdf metadata extractor is optional so it wont extract embedded metadata if you have that off.

The "Files" category is not easily understandable by a new user. What
is the difference between "Files" and the other categories?

I guess it should say "All Files" instead - the others are subcategories of "All Files"

The search tool also need some kind of status of the tracker daemon.
Like "how many of my files am I able to search now?"

not sure?

The indexing of my files used a lot of CPU but I don't know if it is a problem.

its at nice+19 and if you are not using turbo mode it will perioidically fsync to prevent large dirty buffers from building up and pausing your system. It will use spare cpu cycles if your system is idle but if you play a game or watch a video you should not see any side effects from tracker's indexing. (at least I did not on my system)

Anyway, keep up the good work and good luck on getting it into gnome.

yeah ta - looks like it will be a rough ride but Im sure we will get there eventually even if we have to wait for 2.20
