Hello all,I was impressed by the descriptions of tracker (compared to beagle which I have some reservations about) and decided to try it out on an Ubuntu Dapper PC. I installed tracker 0.0.4 on Ubuntu Dapper (with all updates installed) using the following:
sudo apt-get install libextractor1c2a cd /var/cache/apt/archivessudo wget -nd http://www.gnome.org/~jamiemcc/tracker/DEB/tracker_0.0.4_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/tracker_0.0.4_i386.debBut when I typed: "trackerd" it starts up the indexing process and just sits there at "Extracting Metadata for file /home/.../Examples with mime unknown" for a very long time >15 minutes) so I aborted it.
A second invocation of the same make it sit at "updating file /home/..." doing nothing further! I aborted (Ctrl-C'd) that as well.
A "tracker-search hello" in a separate terminal window (while trackerd is running in a previous terminal window) results in:
"Could not initialize Tracker - exiting..."Any ideas? Perhaps the screen dump shown below may help clarify what I am encountering.
