All tests, platforms, docs and build issues should now be fixed

I walked over everything in the entire build procedure and all should be
fixed now.

I also re-checked and fixed "make distcheck", tested all the platform
specific libraries once more and generated the documentation several
times.

Things should be working now (they didn't after several renaming
issues).

Lots of cleaning up happened during the renaming. If you had a bug
pending, please recheck with this new code. Make sure to remove your
prefix make install target before trying to recompile. Libtool sometimes
misses when lots of ABI was changed (which is the case).

Lots of referencing vs. unreferencing issues are also fixed.
