Re: [tasque-list] tasque-list Digest, Vol 15, Issue 1

Thanks Sandy. I noticed the HiveMind crash is listed in the patches needing review section of the main program. Maybe once that is fixed, the Mac version will be fine too. I plan to review some of the patches as I can over the next few weeks. I would love to help get a new release version out!

My friend on OS X is switching her task management over to Tasque, and we'll see if she has Mac-specific issues. If so, I will relate them to my brother. I'm not sure if he would be willing to rewrite it to be a native Mac app (which would be in Cocoa, I think...) but he offered to help it be more stable.

To install on Mac, it was really easy. I just downloaded Mono for her, and then installed the Tasque disk image from here:
http://live.gnome.org/Tasque/Download. Didn't have to build anything.

Hi everyone,

I end up recommending Tasque to all my friends, not all of whom use Ubuntu.
I just helped a friend install it on OS X tonight. However, it crashed when
I selected HiveMind as the backend, and the program would no longer open as
a result.

My little brother has coded games on OS X before, and responded positively
to my request for him to take a look. So I'm putting it out there - have you
experienced issues in the 0.1.8 version on OS X? Now is your chance to voice
them and get them addressed!

Hi again,

I am totally willing to review patches, as outlined in this post:

http://groups.google.com/group/tasky/browse_thread/thread/d10476fbe4da929b?pli=1

I just don't know how to get the latest version from git. Help?

I'm surprised a program as awesome as Tasque doesn't have more support. What
is the story???

The HiveMind backend is really new, so I wouldn't be surprised if you
had bugs.  I'd recommend rm -rf ~/.config/tasque, and try again with a
different backend.

This would be great!  Nobody has worked on the Mac version since I did
the initial porting work, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sandy

Awesome. :-)

I know you already found it, but for others, here's the link:

http://live.gnome.org/Tasque/Building

We try to keep all the needed info on the wiki.  If something's not
there, please feel free to add it.  For example, I don't see any info
on building on Windows and Mac.

If you're on Mac, I think you just open tasque-mac.sln in MonoDevelop,
build it, and then run the bundle-mac-app.sh script to create
Tasque.app.  No autofoo/make necessary.

You'll need Mono and MonoDevelop installed, of course.  They are both
available at mono-project.com.

The original creators of Tasque moved on to other things, and Brian
and I (the current maintainers, who each maintain other projects, too)
have too many other things on our plate to do much Tasque work these
days.

But as long as people are interested in helping, Tasque will always
have a future.

Sandy
