status of undo?

Hi everybody,

Just wondering... what is the status of undo? 

Also, is there any way to make conditional requirements in a package?

I'd like to update my dmg-gpsy.el (quick access to
grow/pack/shrink/yank) to use undo. but, is there something in
sawfish/rep that allows for conditionals, something like:

if this function is defined used it, but otherwise don't generate an
error?
