latest cvs can't find sawfish.wm.util.x during make

Hi,

I've just installed SuSE 9.1, which no longer includes sawfish. So (hoping
fervently that viewports still work) I've compile the current librep and
rep-gtk from gnome cvs. Sawfish (after autogen.sh && configure) has problems:

set -e; for d in sawfish/wm; do \
  SAWFISHLISPDIR=. SAWFISHEXECDIR=../src/.libexec SAWFISHDOCFILE=../DOC
../src/sawfish --batch --no-rc compiler -f compile-lib-batch $d; \
done
(compiling sawfish/wm/placement/stagger.jl)
...
(compiling sawfish/wm/user.jl)
sawfish/wm/user.jl:66: In function `safe-load':
sawfish/wm/user.jl:66: warning: calling undeclared function
`error-handler-function'
...
(compiling sawfish/wm/commands/x-cycle.jl)
error--> (file-error "No such file or directory" "sawfish/wm/util/x")

Further up it had apparently done the right thing:

 gcc -c -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DSAWFISH -I. -I.. -I/usr/X11R6/include -O2
-march=pentium3 -pipe -I/usr/local/include
-I/usr/local/libexec/rep/i686-suse-linux -I/opt/gnome/include
-I/opt/gnome/include/gtk-2.0 -I/opt/gnome/include/glib-2.0
-I/opt/gnome/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/X11R6/include
-I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/freetype2/config
-I/opt/gnome/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/include/freetype2
-I/usr/include/freetype2/config -I/opt/gnome/include/glib-2.0
-I/opt/gnome/lib/glib-2.0/include x.c  -fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/x.o
/usr/local/libexec/rep/i686-suse-linux/libtool --mode=link gcc -avoid-version
-module 	  -rpath /usr/local/libexec/rep/i686-suse-linux  -o x.la x.lo
gcc -shared  .libs/x.o   -Wl,-soname -Wl,x.so -o .libs/x.so
creating x.la
(cd .libs && rm -f x.la && ln -s ../x.la x.la)

Should some variable be pointing to ../src/.libs ?
