Mac OS X Icons

I have Mac 10.3.4 with Apple's X11 server.  When I click the icon 
button, the window disappears but where is it?  Its not in the dock or 
on the desktop.

(I guess it is the icon button.  The left most button on the top of the 
window frame.)
