Hmm, I doubt it... GNOME 2.8 is *seriously* old.  I don't think Sabayon
even existed during that version of GNOME; the oldest tags I could find
were for 2.11 and 2.12.

I guess you are out of luck unless you want to debug things yourself :(
Start by tweaking configure.ac to look for an older intltool.  We'll be
happy to provide advice, of course.
