It's not your hardware's fault; it's Sabayon's fault.

Sabayon 2.18.x isn't very robust, really, and getting debug logs out of
it is difficult.  I wonder if you could somehow get 2.19.1 and get one
of the detailed log files it produces (it will simply dump them to
~/sabayon-debug-log-xxxx.txt).  That would make debugging much easier.
