  He is correct in his assertion that LPCM isn't really a "file"
format but its still a defined format with a known mime-type and there
is no reason you can't stream it over HTTP. PS3 and some other
DLNA/UPnP devices can play LPCM over HTTP fine and thanks to patches
to relevant gstreamer plugin from yours truly, all gstreamer-based
applications (e.g totem) can handle this stream as well. Actually this
format is essential for transcoding since most renderers will be able
to handle it if not others that we offer.
