I copy pasted and renamed libpythonloader.so to libpython3loader.so in the above mentioned directory and now it works fine

I tried to purge and reinstall libpeas-1.0-0, libpeas-common, libpeas-dev but it didn't quite help...

You need to convert your plugin to python3 and use the python3 loader.
