This might be bug 501389, Rhythmbox does not ask for a password when a
DAAP share is added manually:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501389

If that's the case, it might be possible to work around by advertising
the share with Avahi first. Something like this seems to work:
