That's a big improvement :)

You said you're using Ubuntu 8.10 clean install using gnome desktop,
so rhythmbox *should* just work.

The command line output is interesting - most of these lines are
warning messages about the theme "Snow-Apple".  My guess is you have
configured Ubuntu to use a customer gnome theme which isn't 100%
compatible with rhythmbox.  To test this theory, could you switch your
theme back to the Ubuntu default, and then re-try rhythmbox.  I would
expect these warning messages to go away.

However, the final line is an actual error message (not just a
warning), and this is something to do with the rhythmbox database
(RhythmDB).  This could be unrelated to the theme issue - I don't
know, but maybe someone else on the list can comment.
