For the integration into the UI, you can take a look at the
visualization plugin, which replaces
the browser and song list by the visualization window.

You can file an enhancement-bug in bugzilla.gnome.org and attach your
code there for review and test.
You may also want to look at this bug:

that shows some reflections/advancements people had/did on adding a
cover browser to RB.
