Ah! So you did!  Just tested it by uninstalling my -ugly set.  Excellent!

Haha, but oh no!  Just found a bug.  I'll mention it here, then pending
y'all's response ("already solved", "report it properly", etc.) put it
in Launchpad.

The bug is if the necessary module does not get installed.  Perhaps user
decides against installing, lack of internet connection.  Or in my case,
Synaptic was already open, so the default Ubuntu user-friendly interface
failed.  When that program returns to Rhythmbox, and you try to play the
song again (because I'm a dumb user), Rhythmbox locks up.  Not sure what
exactly the correct behavior is.
