Hi,
Nice little piece of software! Thanks! I played with it a couple of
minutes these are the first remarks i'd like to make:
- i don't think the queue list is the right place to put the songs. your
plugin deserves it's own source. Actually, its natural place would be in
the last.fm source, but for the moment i think you should put it in a
new one. And if this can allow you to have a more developed ui, go for
it!
- The most obvious problem is i think the fact that, for the moment, you
only add the first track present in the library. This leads very easily
to loops in the play order (like song 1 -> song 2 -> song 1 -> ...), and
it doesn't allow interactivity. I could imagine introducing a little bit
of randomness in the algorithm, or some choice by the user. For example,
you could present the user a list of n available songs to play next (n
being a settable parameter), with one of them selected randomly (maybe
with a probability depending on the degree of similarity), and the
ability to change this default choice. Hey, the ui for this could be
pretty cool!
- Last thing, your plugin should avoid close repetition of the same
artist/track. If you can remember the previously played songs, maybe you
can then privilege artists that weren't played (at least not recently).
I don't have an algorithm in mind, but you see what i mean...
Anyway, thanks for this great little plugin, i have go back to
rediscovering my music library!
