[Rhythmbox-devel] BaconVolume widget (volume button)

Hi

I just read this[1] blog about bringing back the bacon button that
e.g. Rhythmbox, Sound-juicer, Totem, and Banshee uses for volume
button.

What I don't understand is; Why not just use a normal slider like the
Duration Slider? There are plenty of space in the toolbar, iTunes uses
a normal slider, screen readers would probably prefer a normal slider,
and the HIG would probably also prefer a normal slider, as the HIG
doesn't like widgets that change appearance.

So why do people like this Bacon Volume widget? Am I missing something?
