This is http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130426, which has been
around for a while. It's one of those things that everyone thinks would
be very cool, but is never quite at the top of priorities for any of the
developers.

While not easy to implement, it shouldn't be that hard, and I'm happy to
give help to anyone who was interesting in implementing it.

If Rhythmbox is minimised to the NA when you quit (either via the tray
icon context menu, or logging out) it start in the tray next time.
Currently there is no always-start-in-tray option though.

Unless you have a weird GStreamer installation, Rhythmbox can always
read ID3 tags, so I'm assuming you mean editing tags. If you are using
gst-plugins-good 0.10.3 or later and Rhythmbox 0.9.6 (or 0.9.5 with
--enable-tag-writing passed to configure) Rhythmbox should be able to do
this.

Currently other formats are less well supported, Ogg Vorbis tagging
requiring 0.9.6 and the as-yet-unreleased gst-plugins-base 0.10.11.

Audio CDs should work fine, but we don't display data cds with tracks on
them at the moment. If people want this it would be fairly simple to do;
so is this something everything thinks would be good?

This has been debated a few times before. I personally still aren't
convinced that it would do anything useful, is there any real advantage
to stopping over pausing?

This is related to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119406, and
will probably get fixed at the same time. However when that would be,
I'm not sure.
