Hi !

I have experienced some problems like you. I have all my music files in 
a folder with .mp3, .ogg, .mpc, .m3u, .jpg files and when I insert it, 
rb hangs for a long time. Maybe these odd filetypes cause the issue. 
This is the log I get, if it can be useful :

and then I stopped rb.

If you would like more infos, ask me, but I'm pretty unable to find the 
files which causes this.
