It doesn't require gstreamer CVS for ogg vorbis/mp3/flac playback, but for things that gstreamer started to support properly recently (m4a playback for example), the latest gstreamer release isn't good enough. So people needing support for such format have to use gstreamer CVS or to wait for a new gsreamer release. Christophe
