My proposal would be to engage with the Debian GNOME team, rather than
trying to address the whole project.

I believe we agree on this, we want GNOME to shine, and the Debian
GNOME team does work with that goal of making it shine in Debian,
that's why I believe in them, and prefer leaving them the role of
addressing internal Debian issues.
