This script was already obsolete. I've removed it from VCS.

Also added .tar.xz support to convert-to-tarballs.py. In addition,
changed the logic that it can find all versioned tarballs, even if
suddenly the compression type is switched.

Meaning: currently if there are .tar.bz2 files in the directory, it
would only look at those files. Now it looks at .tar.xz and also
.tar.bz2 (if the version is different) plus .tar.gz.
