since today is the date for 2.26 tarballs, could i please commit the oneliner?
it certainly does more good than harm - fixes crasher on startup with
python 2.6.
As for non-UTF-8 locale, i'm not sure what are those. If it's standard
non-utf8 english, then yes it has been tested, but i might be missing
something.
