A few questions; sorry if they sound trivial:

- Did this get done?

- Why did we need to port to the new API?  Did the old API stop working?

- Or is libnotify a totally new module (platform? desktop?) for 2.14 and
you wanted to use it instead of the old API that you were using?  If so,
what old API were you using?
