This was done because last release cycle Mark, Shaun, and Murray
proposed shortening to one week and there weren't any objections at
all. (http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2004-September/msg00237.html).
 Anyway, we just need to remember to bring this up for the 2.12
schedule, get comments, and change this back to two weeks.
