[Planner] Resources and units

Hi!
I would like to assign university teachers to tasks, and these resources
are counted in hours, where 1700 is the year total but this can vary for
individuals. I am very uncertain about how to do this with planner - if
I simply read "units" as my "hours" something strange will happen in the
resource overview, as I understand it. So is there a way do do this?
