This feature has been requested by someone in this bug for a different
reason: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334086

I agree that this is something we need, but I'm not sure how soon we
will get to this.

I know it's not the same as "time spent", but I've been wanting to
implement a "work done" field, which can be seen as a time
representation of the "% Complete" field.

It's been sidetracked though in favor of solving long-standing bugs and
implementing higher priority features.
