I haven't proposed using it in our actual build system yet, but it is definitely my preference to use this over setting up the pull from remote system. Currently we're still just rsyncing and hoping it doesn't fail in the middle.
As for the implementation, if this is functionality that would be acceptable upstream, I'd probably start porting it to ostree proper. But the standalone script is nice for experimenting with the protocol and easier for me to deploy than rebuilding ostree, so I'll probably keep working on it for a bit either way.
