Re: [orca-list] Dell Inspiron 3501 - Sound Not Working in Linux Mint

Try a USB sound card, or headphones.

Hi folks,

Already know probably won't get help on this one, and it's more of a
shot in the dark.  Just picked up a new laptop, a Dell Inspiron 3501.
It has the following audio controllers:

    Realtek ALC3204
    Cirrus Logic CS8409 (CS42L42 + SN005825)

Running Linux Mint.  Sound simply won't work upon booting from USB.  I
have a couple other Dell Inspiron's sitting here, and works just fine.
Boot from USB, press Ctrl+Alt+T to get to terminal, type "orca", and
my beloved screen reader starts talking to me.

I know the sound card does indeed work on this laptop because when I
boot to the Windows setup screen, that lady starts talking to me, so
that's not the issue.  Have confirmed with sighted folks volume is
100% and it's not muted, so I don't know.

Anyone else ever experience this?  Any neat solution?

Thanks,
Matt
