Re: [orca-list] Screenreader Accessibility Testers for Ubuntu

Today I installed a daily build of Ubuntu 22.04 gnome and I was very happy that the installer is accessible with Orca as in 20.04! Also I am happy that firefox en Chromium-browser are also accessible through snap, in 21.10 they were not. Many thanks to you, developers. I switch to xorg to find out Windows+A to be accessible, in Wayland it is not. I could not access the top bar with Control+Alt+Tab, Orca only says 'Menu button'. So far, untul now.

Hello all!

My name is Monica Ayhens-Madon and I'm the Ubuntu Community Representative at Canonical. I also work with an internal group working on increasing the accessibility of the desktop and our website in a variety of ways, including for screenreaders. We have a post here with a specific call for screenreader testers for the web page and the new Flutter installer: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/accessibility-testers-needed-web-site-and-flutter-installer/26485

We also want to build up screenreader testing in the wider Ubuntu community, and to make sure that testing improves things both downstream and upstream. If you'd be interested in talking to me or anyone in the accessibility group on how we can make an easy to follow process that is easy for potential testers to find, we would be happy to have your suggestions, concerns, and other feedback.

Cheers!

Monica
