Re: [orca-list] Orca and snap

A snap package is just that. A package.

If the package is built so that any accessibility options are on, then the program will be accessible when
run. If the accessibility configuration/options/etc are turned off, then the program will be not-accessible.

It has nothing to do with the snap package format.

Hi Guy,

I installed Ubuntu 21.10 just for to try and Firefox by snap is inaccessible. But installing Firefox with
sudo apt install firefox I got Firefox like we know to be accessible.

Hey everyone, have a question. Is anyone running ubuntu mate 21.10? I’m getting the notice to upgrade,
but I am concerned about firefox now being installed as a snap package. Does this hinder accessibility
in any way? I thought I heard at one point that snap Applications may be less accessible. If anyone is
running this, and has any idea on how it’s working, please let me know. If it is a bad idea, is there
anyway to upgrade without Firefox being installed in this manner?
Thanks,
Guy
