Hi alleaI have a fresh install of fedora mate installed on an HP machine and after installing, also worked until I updated my system. Now after updating, I have speech at login but not after. Any idea on what might be going on?
Have you tried running Orca manually (e.g., with Alt-F2, then "orca", then <enter>)?
Also, if that doesn't work, could you check whether
Speech-Dispatcher is running? (e.g., log in from another machine
over ssh and run pgrep speech).
If Speech-Dispatcher and Orca are both running, it might be an audio issue, and you could try playing an audio file to the default sound device to test it.
Checking system logs would be worthwhile as well, in case there
are informative error messages.
