[orca-list] A strange problem getting speech in a GUI in a fresh install of arch.

Good morning all.

Last night I got a fresh install of arch running in a vm with espeakup.  I installed mate as my desktop.  I 
chose lightm as my display manager, but after enabling it, I got the message failed to start lightDM.  As I 
said before, I am running in a vm.  I do not have any bare bones machine for using at the moment.  I did try 
GDM and got it installed, but now here is the strange part.  I get no speech at this point.  I do however get 
popping from my speakers.  If however I switch to another concle, speech is fine.  Any ideas on what might be 
going on and how to fix it.  Thanks.
