Have you considered other distributions, such as Debian, Linuxmint Mate, or Slint? Maybe Arch? No, in Ubuntu Mate, you have to press TAB once for try. It's a lost cause
anyways because Orca doesn't read any of the screens that require
administrator access. At least on the live image. I might have to install
Ubuntu, then the mate desktop.

When you first boot, pressing enter is the default option, which is "try
Ubuntu".

review mode in orca may help. Also try alt-i when you get on that screen
and see if install starts. The alt-t should start the try ubuntu option.
