Your issue is not due to Arch, I had the same on Debian. If you want
something working you can do one of those two options:
* Install Orca master and Speech Dispatcher master
* Install Debian because it will have the fix for this issue in the
next stable release planned for the end of this week
Could you confirm me that one of those two options works for you?

I has installed orca in Archlinux, run with out problem, but I
don't know whay have alitle distortion's sintetizer. In another
distros like ubuntu there is distortion when start orca, but sound
good after that. In arch the distortion continue for long time.
So, what recomendme to get a optimal installation of orca in Arch?
(about distortion or other useful tips). Another question to be
informed, why occure the distorion? I think is old problem.
