Howdy,

as chrome based browsers are more and more an accessible alternative to 
firefox, i just stumbled upon a handy little chrome extension what 
allows to enable and disable the browser caret on the fly:

works like a charm here on brave.

The caret could be toggled on the fly (like in firefox and others) with F7.
