I haven't yet installed LO 6.4. In 6.3 Orca was reading objects on the 
status bar, but not the displayed text. I just committed a change to 
Orca master and the gnome-3-36 branch to fix that.

From the original report ("nothing happens"), that sounds like Orca 
wasn't able to find the status bar which might mean LO introduced a 
regression. I'll take a look.
