Re: [orca-list] Chromium seems to be ignoring text when I navigate with the arrows

Ok, I'm still debugging this, but something weird seems to be happening in the Chromium accessibility tree. It's changing, but we're not being told -- my guess is AT-SPI2 isn't either.

When the problem happens for me, I can do 'orca -r' and the problem goes away. Hopefully that will work for you too. (Yes, I know it's a drag, but I think we're going to need to fix this in Chromium and not Orca. And I still need to figure out how to reproduce it reliably.)

Thanks again!

Apparently not, at least I couldn't reproduce using fire fox.

Does it happen if you first do some github searches in Firefox and then try again?

I wasn't seeing the problem before because I was using my locally-built chromium without sync. But when I used the dev channel with sync, it had my previous searches and that is what generated the popup entries.

I ended up not mentioning it in the previous post, but when trying to reproduce the problem with FF it doesn't happen.

Aha. Yeah, a popup is appearing when you press down and then disappearing. I'll take a look. Thanks!

Hi Joanie.

Would it be possible to try to reproduce using the following steps?

1. Launch chromium.

2. Press ctrl+l, type vscode issues and press enter.

3. After the page is loaded press the letter h until the following is found:

"<https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues>

      Issues · microsoft/vscode · GitHub"
      <https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues>

<https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues>

4. Press enter  to load the link.

5. After the page is loaded press ctrl+home and press the h key until you find
     Pinned issues.

6. Press the down arrow until you find the search issues.

7. Press down arrow again.

At least in my machine chromium jumps to the ©message instead of present the list of issues.

Interestingly I cannot reproduce the problem if I directly access the link.

Sure. I don't know if it will help, but yeah, I'm happy to take a look. Thanks!

May I send a debug file?

Thanks.

Hi all.

Using chromium and orca compiled from orca try the following steps:

1. Open https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues <https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues>

2. After the page is loaded press ctrl+home and press the h key until you find

    Pinned issues.

3. Press the down arrow until you find the search issues.

4. Press down arrow again.

I am running chromium version 81.0.4042.0.

Thanks.
