If you'd rather use a gui, why not use your file manager (caja or
nautilus)? Transfers are made as easy as a copy-and-paste
operation. Look at caja's "connect to server" option. Options
include "ftp", (anonymous and not).

Has anyone ever tried ncftp in orca? Definitely works well in command line and is the most user friendly ftp app available.
