The --force-renderer-accessibility flag should no longer be needed if
you are using version 86.0.4199.0 or later.
The --enable-caret-browsing flag should no longer be needed if you are
using version 86.0.422.0 or later. F7 should toggle it.
The environment variable right now is still necessary.
Given that Majid's report was "things aren't working," using the flags
seemed prudent. Testing without the use of the flags -- assuming you're
in an environment where things definitely work when using the flags --
would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Any chance we can ditch either the environment variable or the
command
line flag? It's kind of painful making sure both are set in every
context you might need to launch Chrome. I.e. shell-based is simple
enough, but then you want a Chrome-based browser launching when
clicking
on links from Thunderbird, and suddenly one or the other isn't
happening. Pretty sure I'm not passing the flag when launching from
other apps, even though I've worked hard to ensure that the
environment
variable is set everywhere. I'm happy to try getting one or the
other
working, but both is a real pain.

You also need ACCESSIBILITY_ENABLED=1 in your environment.
And if you want text selection to work, you'll also want the --
enable-
caret-browsing flag.
