Re: [orca-list] Expose hidden web elements to Orca

Hello,

Do you know Firefox has accessibility inspector as a part of its development tools since Firefox 61 released in july 2018?
So essentially you can inspect what accessibility properties it will expose to at-spi or easily discover what HTML / css was used to create corresponding accessible object.
https://www.marcozehe.de/2018/04/11/introducing-the-accessibility-inspector-in-the-firefox-developer-tools/

So I think you should take a look at it, perhaps it might be usefull to you and you may not necessarily need these features in the screen reader.
It's already complicated enough making the presentation of web content meaningfull to screen reader users before adding another layer of complexity.

Greetings

Peter

Hi,

When developing web pages, Orca should have the ability to expose empty
elements such as divs, spans, paragraphs, horizontal rules, and other
elements. At this time, a developer must insert a <span> tag with text
into an empty element to check its size/position. It would greatly
improve the workflow if the user has the option of turning this feature
on and off at will. Something that might benefit developers along with
this feature is an option to expose the name or id attribute of an
element at the same time. What do you think of this idea?
