Re: [orca-list] Ubuntu VS Ubuntu Mate

Hi Alexandro,

I'd assume that both be accessible, though personally I prefer Mate
over other desktops.

But I am neither blind nor an Ubuntu user, so this is just a personal
preference.

As for other distributions, I'd recommend Slint that is the most
accessible, not only with Orca but also on a console. But maybe I am not
completely objective, being its maintainer <smile>

Be aware though that for Slint the learning curve is a bit steeper and
initial partitioning of the drive needs to type commands during
installation, if not already done with gparted or a similar software.

Best regards,

Didier

Hi All,

I’m curious as to what OS you would recommend between Ubuntu and Ubuntu Mate for accessibility with Orca.
My systems range from high-end 64-bit Intel machines to 1.25 GB 32-bit PPC chips. If another bistro is
preferred, that is fine, too.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Warm regards,
Alex
