Problem soved. I removed the package clipit, which I suppose was installed during an upgrade. Now cut/copy &
paste works as expected.
Thanks - Lars

Hi Lars,
Here it works as expected:
Press F6 or Alt+D or Control+L to go to the addressbar.
Press Control+C.
In gedit press Control+V.
If you are in the addressbar, if you prefer, press Home to go to the
beginning, press Shift+End to select and press Cotrol+C to copy.
Success.

Thanks. I ment copying. And it's the selection that doesn't work. Neither do paste. I tried to open
Firefox, go to the address bar, and copy the address to clipboard. Orca says Copying selected text to
clipboard. Then I went into gedit and tried to paste. Nothing happened. Very strange.

If you are actually cutting instead of copying, that can be why it
isn't working.
Or perhaps you are being indiscriminate between cut and copy.
You cannot cut from a web page, because cut means to remove it from
here to put there.
So do you mean copy and paste?
Copy is control + C.
Cut is control + X.

Hello, list!
I cannot cut and paste in GUI, and wonder if someone have tips on how
to
to fix.
If e.g. I go into gedit and type some text, and then press c-a to
select all, Orca says all selected, and right afterwords, no text
selected. The same happens if I use the right click function, and
choose
Select all, and also with shift+arrow keys. It says selected, and right
away, Not selected. I'm using mate desktop on a Fedora 29 system. Any
ideas on what's going on?
Thanks
Lars
